We can provide assessment for your child at home, at school, or within our clinic space. We will discuss with you which is the most appropriate environment, considering your child’s needs and the areas of concern. After-school and Saturday appointments can be made available on request. This is followed by a telephone consultation and face-to-face assessment. Our face-to-face assessment will include a mixture of clinical observations and standardised tests such as the following:
Following the assessment, we produce a comprehensive report, detailing specific and individualised recommendations for your child. We aim to share this report with the referrer within 10 working days of the assessment. The occupational therapist will be available to talk through the report with you, over the phone or virtually, for up to 30 minutes.
Following your child’s assessment, we can offer intervention support on a flexible basis if recommended that they would benefit from this. All interventions are undertaken by a qualified paediatric occupational therapist or Occupational Therapy assistant .
Collaboratively with you and your child, Liverpool Occupational Therapy Services will devise your child’s personalised Occupational Therapy goals. Your child will work towards achieving these goals within a specified time. The treatment that your child receives will be based on and around these goals.
Treatment sessions usually last an hour. Following each session, you will be provided with an Occupational Therapy Programme to enable you to support your child at home to reach their maximum potential.
